May your love be upon us who cherish your presence, O Lord

The Lord looks on those who revere him,
on those who hope in his love,
to rescue their souls from death,
to keep them alive in famine.

Our soul is waiting for the Lord.
The Lord is our help and our shield.
In him do our hearts find joy.
We trust in his holy name.

May your love be upon us, O Lord,
as we place all our hope in you.
Psalm 33.18-22

I rejoice in you, my Lord

They are happy, whose God is the Lord,
the people he has chosen as his own.
    From the heavens the Lord looks forth,
    he sees all the children of men.
Psalm 33.12-13

May I be an ever-faithful disciple.

Remember your leaders who spoke the word of God to you;
consider how their lives ended, and imitate their faith.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teaching.
Hebrews 13:7-9a

May we we follow you unreservedly.

We now have no leader, no prophet,
    no prince, no burnt offering, no sacrifice,
    no oblation, no incense,
    no place where we can make offerings to you
    and win your favour.

But may the contrite soul,
the humbled spirit,
be as acceptable to you
as burnt offerings of rams and bullocks,
as thousands of fat lambs:
    such let our sacrifice be to you today,
    and may it please you
    that we follow you wholeheartedly,
    since those who trust in you will not be shamed.

And now we put our whole heart into following you,
into fearing you and seeking your face once more.
Daniel 3.38-41

May no evil desires prevail

Show us your mercy, Lord;
our misery is known to us.

May no evil desires prevail over us,
for your glory and love dwell in our hearts.
A Psalm Prayer

We have a God who forgives

The Lord is king; the peoples tremble.
He is throned on the cherubim; the earth quakes.
The Lord is great in Zion.

He is supreme over all the peoples.
Let them praise his name, so terrible and great.
He is holy, full of power.

You are a king who loves what is right;
you have established equity, justice and right;
you have established them in Jacob.

Exalt the Lord our God;
bow down before Zion, his footstool.
He the Lord is holy.

Among his priests were Aaron and Moses,
among those who invoked his name was Samuel.
They invoked the Lord and he answered.

To them he spoke in the pillar of cloud.
They did his will; they kept the law,
which he, the Lord, had given.

O Lord our God, you answered them.
For them you were a God who forgives;
yet you punished all their offenses.
Psalm 99.1-9

Lord, you indeed are my God

Thus says the Lord God:

O my people,
I will open your graves and have you rise from them,
and bring you back to the land of Israel.

Then you shall know that I am the Lord,
when I open your graves and have you rise from them,
O my people!

I will put my spirit in you that you may live,
and I will settle you upon your land;
thus you shall know that I am the Lord.

I have promised, and I will do it, says the Lord.
Ezekiel 37:12b-14

May I gladly take on the new heart you give me, Lord

I will sprinkle clean water upon you
to cleanse you from all your impurities,
and from all your idols I will cleanse you.

I will give you a new heart
and place a new spirit within you,
taking from your bodies your stony hearts
and giving you natural hearts.

I will put my spirit within you
and make you live by my statutes,
careful to observe my decrees.
Ezekiel 36:25-27

Lord, recreate me in your image.

Brothers and sisters:
Now this I affirm and insist on in the Lord:
you must no longer live as the Gentiles live,
in the futility of their minds.

That is not the way you learned Christ!
For surely you have heard about him
and were taught in him,
as truth is in Jesus.

You were taught to put away your former way of life,
your old self, corrupt and deluded by its lusts,
and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
and to clothe yourselves with the New Man,
created according to the likeness of God
in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4.17, 20-24
