Lord, teach me wisdom

Indeed you love truth in the heart;
then in the secret of my heart teach me wisdom.
(Psalm 51)

Morning petitions

Almighty King, you have baptized us,
and made us a royal priesthood:
may we offer you a constant sacrifice of praise.

Help us to keep your commandments;
so that through your Holy Spirit we may dwell in you,
and you in us.

Everlasting Wisdom, come to us:
dwell with us and work in us today.

Help us to be considerate and kind;
grant that we may bring joy, not pain, to those we meet.

...
Look with favour on our morning prayer, Lord,
    and in your saving love
    let your light penetrate the hidden places of our hearts.
May no sordid desires darken our minds,
    renewed and enlightened as we are by your heavenly grace.

(from Morning Prayer, Wk1, Tuesday)

Teach me, Lord

Show me your ways, O Lord, and guide me to the right path.

Enlighten my heart and mind so that I may proclaim your truth, your word.

Lead me, Lord. I want to follow.

There are moments, Lord, when I do not really know if what I do is truly your will, or merely for my own satisfaction.

But you, my Lord, know me.  You know why I sit, why I stand.

Let me trust you, my God, to purify me so that all that I ever hope to be and hope to do is for your glory, for the coming of your Kingdom.

Teach me, Master, that I may learn from you.
Lead me, Lord.  I want to follow.
