Be not merely hearers who deceive themselves

But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.

For if any are hearers of the word and not doers, they are like those who look at themselves in a mirror; for they look at themselves and, on going away, immediately forget what they were like.

But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act—they will be blessed in their doing.
James 1.22-25

A morning prayer

Almighty, ever-living God,
help us to ever obey you willingly and promptly.
May we always serve you
    with sincere and upright hearts
in all that we are and in all that we do.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

Listen to God’s voice

“Open up your heart and listen to what God is saying to you. Allow your life to [be] “written” by God”.

Just as the Good Samaritan did when he stopped to help the stranger, we must all listen to God’s voice and sometimes put our own projects on hold to do his will.           Read more...

May our hearts be rooted in love

I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love.

I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Ephesians 3.16-19

Our aim: peace and strength of one another

The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating or drinking, but of justice, peace, and the joy that is given by the Holy Spirit.

Whoever serves Christ in this way pleases God and wins the esteem of men.

Let us, then, make it our aim to work for peace and to strengthen one another.
Romans 14:17-19
